Venturelab Internship Update
This semester I have been interning at Venturelab, a company started by Dr. Cristal Glangchai who founded the Entrepreneurship program here at Trinity. The ESTEAM (entrepreneurship, science, tech, engineering, math) centered startup aims to teach kids about the value of entrepreneurship through various courses. Just in the few short months that I have been working with them, I have seen the company grow and continue to develop into something I am proud to be a part of.
I have multiple roles as an intern, but one of them has been to help Nick, a Trinity grad and first ever Entrepreneurship minor, create curriculum. While I might help develop computer science specific curriculum later on, I have currently only worked on the club curriculum. The idea is to get Venturelab programs into schools by using the pre-existing club structure.
Another job I have as a Venturelab intern is to help Wes on the website. I essentially help with debugging, going through the website and looking for abnormal behavior which I then document and screenshot for the developers. At some point I may even work on fixing the bugs myself, but right now I am just the bug finder.
I also help run events from time to time. Most recently, I went to a local middle school to help run a STEM Day event in which students learned about coding and electronics through Venturelab activities. The activity I was in charge of used the Game Press app to teach kids about coding through the medium of game design.
In all, working at Venturelab has been a perfect combination for me as my love for computing and my passion for outreach are both being utilized. It is all thanks to the Entrepreneurship department that I found out about this amazing opportunity. As Venturelab moves to its new location soon, becoming bigger and better, I’m excited to be on the journey with them.
