VentureLab Internship Update

Previously on Roommates, classes, and perfect ramen:

I "hired" a team to work on my venture this semester, I pitched my crowdfunding fashion site a room full of strangers, and I am slowly figuring out the term business casual, which leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

This semester, along with my 17 hours, including HUMA 1600 (more on that in another post), frisbee, adjusting to college, and Women In Computing club, I also have an internship at a local ESTEAM (entrepreneurship, science, technology, engineering, art, and math) education start-up called VentureLab! VentureLab teaches young kids, especially girls, about having an entrepreneurial mindset and fosters creativity in ESTEAM projects. As well as teaching young kids about entrepreneurship, VentureLab also hosts and runs 3Day StartUp (more on that later). As for my internship, VentureLab offers all kinds of opportunities for interns such as curriculum writing, marketing, volunteer work, and what I do: Media. That means most of the time I write blog posts to help educate parents on the positives of entrepreneurship.

So every Thursday I get an excuse to leave campus and drive to the VentureLab office in downtown San Antonio and work with some really cool people, Cassie and Hetali, and Nick! So far I have gotten experience in writing short and fun blogs about different upcoming classes and their benefits and one about how to help encourage entrepreneurship in the class room. I've also gotten to expand into newer online techniques such as listicles. I also get to learn about what all goes into running a start-up company (which is exactly what I want to do!).

VentureLab is a great organization with a mission pretty close to my heart as a female CS major and a potential entrepreneurship 2nd major! I like what I'm doing with them and I am really excited to see how much they expand in the future. Keep reading for more of my TU shenanigans!
