Finding Your Place As An Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurship is broad field and throughout this semester I've learned that I really like it. I like it enough to make it my second major. Here at Trinity, Entrepreneurship is an Interdisciplinary second major, which essentially means that you can major in it, but only if you major in something else too. So in my case my first major is Economics, and my second major is Entrepreneurship (which kind, I haven't decided yet). Even though I really enjoy entrepreneurship and I'm learning so much from it I seem to have difficulty finding my place in it. I'm not a coder, so I can't program. I can't charm the pants off of anyone I meet. Don't get me wrong, I love people, I'm a people person, I just wouldn't categorize myself as charming. I know little of accounting and finance, so that's ruled out. Basically, when thinking of the necessary tools every entrepreneurship group should have, I just don't fit in. This caused me to feel pretty useless amongst others in my different ventures. I have learned this is not the case. Even if you have no definitive skill (like me) you can still be a useful entrepreneur. There is always a need for someone to be the glue, to just do random, miscellaneous tasks that just come up. I am the person who just does whatever needs to be filled. Now this is an overgeneralization, because in different ventures I have different roles, but generally I just do what needs to get done. I've also become the person who pitches. This is something I really enjoy; however, it's not something I am brilliant at. I love speaking, I even enjoy the infamously dreaded public speaking, but I fully acknowledge that I am not the best at it. This isn't to say that I stop doing it, no, quite the opposite actually. I plan to really hone those skills in and become the best pitch person I can be. Practice is key to improving, but this book, Speak Like Churchill, Stand Like Lincoln is helping as well. The point of this is, if you enjoy something, work at it, and then make it your skill.
