Tech Bloc

Tech Bloc is fairly new to San Antonio, but their mission would appeal to entrepreneurs everywhere. The group aims to engage all facets of the San Antonio community from technologists, to business owners, to researchers and entrepreneurs to help make San Antonio part of a fast paced tech ecosystem. By doing so, they hope to grow San Antonio’s economy, build better infrastructure, and retain top tech talent that is graduating from local universities.

While at first glance, Tech Bloc seems to be focused on Tech, but after attending a meeting I saw how truly inclusive and grassroot their efforts are in trying to revolutionize San Antonio. The group is smart in admitting they need all hands on deck to tackle their big goals.

During the meeting we participated in group discussions based on our interests. I was lucky to be sitting with some other incredible female entrepreneurs who were truly inspiring. One works at a local startup Cafe Commerce and another owned her own bakery. Together we discussed what would make San Antonio better for entrepreneurs. The brainstorming jumped all over the place, and it was great to hear from so many talented and experienced individuals.

At the end of brainstorming we picked our top ideas and then presented them to the other tables, groups representing education and technology among other topics. Being able to hear from these other perspectives was the cherry on top as we came up with similar ideas, showing that working together to achieve mutual goals is very possible.

At the end of the event I felt I had learned a lot and would recommend anyone invested in the future of San Antonio to attend. Building up this city isn’t only great for existing business but is great for entrepreneurs looking to capitalize in a growing area.
