A little bit about me

Hello all, and welcome to my nerve wracking yet thrilling foray into the unknown: freshman year. As I don't know you, I thought it would be fitting to take a moment to introduce myself. So, hi, my name is Grace, and in a very short period of time I will be an official first-year student at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. But before I get into the serious, life-changing, blogs that are soon to come, I thought I would tell you a little about me.

To start things off I'll give you the what, when, where, and why of me, myself, and I.

I come from the little known town of Austin, TX (you may have heard of it), and everything you've heard of it and its residents applies to me wholeheartedly. I am a huge fan of the outdoors, I love to go kayaking on the river, I relish in the funky munchies all around town, and I love to talk about just how much I love Austin. But that is about to change as I make perhaps the BIGGEST MOVE of my life; a quick 70 mi. drive down I-35 and I will be in my new home, SA. I am an only child, and I love my family dearly (immediate and extended), and despite being scattered all across North America, we manage to stay in touch.

Moving on to my school life, in high school I was an avid learner and took a full schedule all four years. I was a member of the varsity volleyball team sophomore through senior years. On the academic front, I was a member of the student-produced newspaper The Shield all four years and went on to become the editor-in-chief my junior and senior years. I was also involved in National Honor Society, Key Club, and the Austin City Youth Council—which is a really cool program run by the city of Austin that encourages local teens to take part in policy making and teen involvement in the community!

And now I'm headed to Trinity, the school of my dreams. I am admittedly extremely picky when it comes to what I want, and when it came to choosing a college it shouldn't surprise you that I refused to settle for anything less than exactly what I was looking for. Trinity is small, but not too small, academically strong, and athletically inclined. It has a healthy social scene and is located in one of the biggest cities in the nation. In other words, it's perfect.

At Trinity I hope to dabble in as many areas as I can (i.e. a romantic stroll through the classics, followed by my own blue period in the visual arts, and topped off with my lost semester in the starry skies of astronomyor you know, something like that). But I do have plans to double major in Computer Science and Communications with a minor in either Spanish or Entrepreneurship (or maybe both). I'm excited about being a member of the Entrepreneurship and Creativity hall, and I hope to join the Trinitonian staff right away.

This has been a lot of information jam-packed into a single blog. So I'll give you some time to digest this little nugget before the next one is posted.
