First day of classes: lost, but not TOO lost

Previously on Roommates, classes, and perfect ramen:

NSO covered the basics of everything we needed to know, the tower climb was cancelled, and we finally got to meet the whole entrepreneurship hall.

So today, was my first day of college classes ever. EVER. And I've got to say, it was pretty dang nice. Not only is this the first time that I have gotten to take whatever classes I wanted, I also got to make my schedule for whenever I wanted. While I did try to avoid taking early morning classes it was impossible. I ended up in an 8:30 Mass Media class (another cool Trinity thing is that they don't have any 8:00 AM classes, and while it doesn't sound like much, when you aren't a morning person those extra 30 minutes are really nice). But, because I start a little earlier than most of my friends, I also end a little earlier with my entire schedule ending at 12:30 every day.

My bed was so messy there was no way I
was going to be able to sleep on it without
actually spending the time to clean it up.
But last night was not all flowers and unicorns, it was stressful. First I had to clean my desk, which had become a landing pad for everything paper I had collected during NSO; but then all of it ended up on my bed. Not an ideal place seeing as I did intend on sleeping the night before classes. Next I had to choose what I wanted to wear (silly I know, but I wanted to make a good impression before I show up to my 8:30 in strictly running shorts and a t-shirt). Then I had to get my backpack ready so I could walk out the door only minutes after I woke up in the morning (I had it all planned). And finally I needed to clean my room so I could start the week off right. After this was all finished I allowed myself to drift off into a deep and blissful sleep. I honestly think I could have calmed down a bit, I mean today is my 14th first day of school, so I kind of have that down, but something about the day before classes always gets me riled right up.
My coffee maker is my salvation.
It makes one cup in less than 90
seconds so I can be on my way
to class quick!

When my alarm went off this morning I was more than ready to get up and get out to class. After my morning cup of coffee (necessary if I expect to survive this 8:30 course) I was on my way. I highly recommend getting to class a little early, especially if it is the first class of the day. Now this is great for multiple reasons, first you show your professor that you are serious and committed and second you get first dibs at seats, so if you want to be front row you're covered if you want to be close but not too close the second row is your's for the taking. And all that just because you got some caffeine into your system and out the door a little earlier than usual. I would say that is a pretty good trade-off.

And while I did have to get up early, I am very happy with my schedule and with my first day of classes. Today was an eye opening experience for me. I realized that when people say high school and college are different they aren't joking. This was by far one of the most unstructured days of school I have ever had, but honestly, I think I could really get used to this. Now I just have to make sure I know where the rest of my classes are, it wouldn't be to great if on my way to computer science I found myself mistakenly in a classics class (or you know, something like that).
