Roommates, Suite-mates, and RM's - oh my!
Move In Day!
Hello again! Yesterday was move in day, which would usually mean me lugging suitcases and boxes galore to my floor, Witt-Winn Zero. However, at Trinity, move in day works a little differently. Once my dad drove up in front of my residence hall, the car was literally swarmed with people wearing Trinity shirts who looked like they were just dying to carry all my stuff. This was the warmest welcome I could have hoped for as a stepped on my new campus. Then I went to get my Tiger card made, (yay for pictures that follow you for four years...). After I got back, all my stuff was in my room, I mean everything from that pink lamp on my desk to the socks I stuffed in my suitcase, it was a relief. The rest of the day was a mixture of unpacking, food, and ice breakers. I cannot stress the ice breaker part enough.
My roommate wasn't in yet, so I met my suite-mates, Heather and Maria. Heather is from Illinois and runs track at Trinity and Maria is from Houston. More unpacking ensured before I met my roommate Estrella, a foreign exchange student from China. All of us are in the Entrepreneurial Hall, which also means that we will all take a one hour credit class which meets every Tuesday. I can't wait to learn more about Entrepreneurship with these girls.
During the chaos of unpacking I also met my Resident Mentor (RM), Chris. Chris is the most helpful person I have ever met. I feel completely comfortable asking him all my "stupid questions" as he is a friend as well as an authority figure. All of the students in Chris' RM group are in the Entrepreneurial Hall; we all live in Witt-Winn floor zero. The hall is there in order for us to foster our entrepreneurial interests together. Personally, I'm not sure what my end goal is as a budding entrepreneur; however, I look forward to hearing about the goals of my hall-mates.
I also met Dr. Martinez, the professor for the first year seminar, Creativity and Entrepreneurship as well as our hall's Entrepreneurship 2190 professor. I spoke with him about start ups created in the halls of Trinity. I found the conversation inspiring and felt pride in my new school.
