CSI Grand Opening!
Now what is CSI you may ask? CSI is the Center for Sciences and Innovation and it's basically where I spend half of my time (the other half is in Chapman). Anyways, CSI was recently renovated and now it's absolutely beautiful, seriously, it's one of the prettiest buildings I've ever seen. So this past Saturday, Student Government Association (SGA), an organization that I am a part of, threw this awesome party to officially inaugurate it! Now, I actually didn't have much of anything to do with throwing this party at all, our Head of Communications, Katie Payne, took charge and completely rocked it. So basically there was this super cool party that included a jazz band, food, drinks, and FIREWORKS, but let me back up a minute. The reason why we were able even through the party in the first place was obviously CSI being built, and secondly, because the purpose was to hand over CSI to the students. So on Friday, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony that officially inaugurated the building. Saturday was just for fun.
So onto more details about Saturday! Basically the party was for students, professors, and the people who played an important part in the building of CSI (the architect, etc...). There was food and drinks which was nice because it's always fun to snack, and the Trinity Jazz Band performed incredibly. They were in this room called the Innovation room, which can either be closed and be a part of the building, or it can open up and be half inside, half outside. So they were all performing in that room, kind of inside, kind of outside. The weather was great and it was nice to have a Trinity gathering that included everyone. Now onto the best part, there were FIREWORKS (and yes, that does warrant all caps). The fireworks were launched off of Northrup (our admissions building). This has never been done on Trinity's campus ever, so this was a pretty big deal.
So just to recap, CSI is an incredible building that we threw a party for, now it belongs to all the students and to celebrate it we launched fireworks!
