Entrepreneur In Residence
Here at Trinity we have this cool program/person called our "Entrepreneur in Residence." At first you may ask "what on earth does that mean?" but it's literally exactly what it sounds like. In the Entrepreneurship program, we have a real life Entrepreneur, who has an office in the Entrepreneurship suite, that is there to guide us in all of our crazy ventures. Now, I'm not exaggerating when I say crazy. I have come out our Entrepreneur in Residence and have said some pretty wacky ideas that I have no idea how to produce. A good example of this is Tea Cubes. I wanted to create ice cubes that were infused with tea, so that you could just put in a certain amount of Tea Cubes into your cup and add a little bit of water, and the cubes would melt, but you would get instantaneous iced tea! Anyway, there is not really a feasible way to do that, but I still shared this idea with our Entrepreneur In Residence, Chris Warren.
Chris is our inaugural Entrepreneur In Residence and he has been here for the past (almost) two semesters. Chris graduated from Trinity himself, and went off and did great things, and now he's back to help all of us jump on to this thing called Entrepreneurship. So even though Chris is our first and current Entrepreneur In Residence, he won't actually be her next semester, or ever actually. Instead every year or semester, depending on the Entrepreneur, we will all have someone who is the to guide us. However, who that person is will vary.
Now I think this is a really cool program because these Entrepreneurs are literally taking a year out of their lives to help a bunch of college kids and their crazy new ideas. Hopefully we come up with successful, crazy new ideas, but crazy all the same. Having that real world view is really important in Entrepreneurship and I really value the fact that this program brings attention to that.
